I was very reluctant to share information about myself, this is all you're getting out of me
Ducks Feet
My name is Junior Rodriguez and I was born in Lindsay, CA in April of 1998. Different events in my live have directed this path depending on the circumstances I found myself in. I come from a family of 6, two younger brothers and two older sisters and one mom. We live in a small town in California called Lindsay.
Lindsay is a small town with a little over 3000 residents, it’s a pretty bland and dull town with not much to do. I grew up in this small town where the provider, my mother was working hard every day to provide for me and my family. She had went to college and earned a few degrees while there. She was rewarded with good jobs such as working with Jostens a publishing company or working as a registered dental assistant. We bought a house a couple cars and were living well for awhile.
A series of events happened which I won't go into detail about but we basically lost everything. We moved into a small shabby apartment, no cars and definitely no help from others. As I grew older I understood the world a bit more and understood that you have to work for what you want. Nothing is given, nothing is free, you get what you work for. So for most my time in school I tried to be the smartest one in class, I tried playing sports for the school and town & pretty much set myself up for success at a young age.
Then I went to Garvey, a middle school known for being unruly. While there I did the same as other kids, almost nothing. I sat through my classes and learned nothing. So going into LHS I thought I could just sit through my classes not work and still pass just as I had before. I fell behind in all my classes and didn’t catch up that year. My Sophomore year I realized my mistake and got my shit together. At the end of the year I was on pace for all my classes except math, which I was one and a half years behind. I made the choice to move to JJ’s and finish up math there since it would be easier.
I finished math successfully and returned to Lindsay High School to finish up my senior year. Around me I see people that do better and some that do worse somehow. I know that nobody is perfect, neither am I. Some people might seemingly glide through life like a duck on the water, but if you look beneath the surface you'll see the ducks feet thrashing as it tries to get somewhere. We are all ducks feet, we may make it seem like everything's good, but behind closed doors we all went through our own things which made us who we are today.
